Kollam Beach (15km)

The place has always been a flourishing commercial centre as well as a popular beach destination. Situated near the renowned Ashtamudi lake, the beach offers you the whole range of activities and landscapes to savour. This captivating old port city gives you a peek into the times when foreign travellers visited the place in the medieval period. The place has several attractive tourism attractions within its fold.The best beach spot at Kollam is Thirumullavaram which is about 5 km away from Kollam. The stretch of Arabian Sea that is visible from here has a very calm and soothing atmosphere and the beach here is just right for the tourists who love swimming and bathing in the sea.

Techno Park (3km)

Technopark is a technology park in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India. The park is dedicated to IT ventures. It is the first and largest technology park in India. Launched in 1990, Technopark as of 2010 has 400,000 square metres of built-up space, and is home to over 220 companies, employing more than 30,000 professionals.

Thenmala (50km)

Thenmala is a tourist place near Punalur town, Kollam district in Kerala. Thenmala is the first planned eco-tourism destination in India. The Thenmala dam was built across Kallada River. Thenmala attracts foreign and domestic tourists with a host of attractions. Boating on the lake, a rope bridge, trekking, mountaineering, biking and a musical fountain. Thenmala is approachable both from Trivandrum and Punalur by road. The waterfall called Palaruvi is a prime attraction nearby. Also nearby is a deer rehabilitation center where visitors can see deer in a forest setting and have a peep into a traditional tree house used by forest dwellers to escape harm from wild animals.

Jatayupara (30km)

Jatayu Para(Jatayu Rock)is a curiously shaped rock formation along the MC Road in Chadayamangalam village,Kollam,India.Jatayu Para is 30kms away from Kollam district.Chadayamangalam or Jadayu Mangalam is a beautiful village lying between Kilimanoor and Kottarakara.There is a temple dedicated to Lord Ram at the top of the rock.This a huge cluster of rocks called Jatayupara is a single rock,situated 1000 ft above sea level covering an area of around 60 acres. Jatayu Para is of interest to adventure tourists as this is an ideal location for trekking or hang-gliding.The rock gets its name from a character in the epic Ramayana.Jatayu,a gigantic bird,an ally of Lord Ram,staked his life trying to save Sita (Ram's wife) from her abductor,the demon king Ravana.The rock is beleived to mark the spot where the mortally wounded Jatayu fell.

Palaruvi Water Falls (55km)

Palaruvi waterfalls is one of kerala’s most scenic waterfalls situated near the Kerala – Tamil nadu border, about 5 kms from Aryankavu. Palaruvi is at a distance of 75 kms from kollam town on the kollam – shencottai road. Palaruvi literally means stream of milk and the waterfall cascades down from a height of 300 feet. The surrounding mountains ranges with blue hills and green valleys form a stunning backdrop to this waterfall. Even the journey to this waterfall is a spellbinding experience in itself. Palaruvi is a favourite picnic spot for tourists from south India. The best time to visit this waterfall is in the months of june – January as during the summer it runs dry.

Sasthamkotta Pure Water Lake (17km)

Sasthamkotta is a wetland in the state of Kerala which is very famous for the Sasthamkotta Lake, which is present near a very ancient temple, called by the locals as the Sastha temple. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Dharma Sastha, this temple is an intricately constructed structure. The Sasthamkotta Lake is famous for its very pure water, which is being used by almost half a million people. This is because some larvae present in the water consume all the bacteria from the water, thus making it extremely pure. The Sasthamkotta Lake is a protected property, which has been given a place under the wetlands of international importance. The town of Sasthamkotta is a very famous place that is frequented by pilgrims and other tourists every year mainly due to the temple present along the Sasthamkotta Lake. You can also walk around the hills and forests’ surrounding the Sasthamkotta Lake, as this place is very famous for its scenery. Sasthamkotta will thus make an ideal destination for both the young and the old, with its renowned temples, crystal clear lake and lush forest cover.

Sabarimala (100km)

Sabarimala is a Hindu pilgrimage center located in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of Pathanamthitta District in Kerala. It is the largest annual pilgrimage in India with an estimated 45–50 million devotees visiting every year.[1][2] Sabarimala is believed to be the place where the Hindu God Ayyappan meditated after killing the powerful demoness, Mahishi. Ayyappan's temple is situated here amidst 18 hills. The temple is situated on a hilltop at an altitude of 468 m above mean sea level, and is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Temples exist in each of the hills surrounding Sabarimala. While functional and intact temples exist at many places in the surrounding areas like Nilackal, Kalaketi, and Karimala, remnants of old temples survive to this day on remaining hills.

Kottarakara Ganapathy Temple (12km)

Kottarakkara Ganapathi Temple is a famous temple for Lord Ganapathi located in Quilon, Kerala. It is one of the oldest and famous pilgrim centres of South India. The fact is this is a Siva temple (Kizhakkekara Siva temple) , but it is not known by the principal deity’s name and known as a Ganapathy temple widely. Moreover, the Ganapathy idol here was not installed according to the tantra rituals. Also the important art form of Kerala having international repute – Kathakali has its origins in Kottarakkara.
